Shelbourne Corridor Action Plan and Shelbourne Local Area Plan

Saanich is developing an "action plan" to address planning in the Shelbourne corridor area. The plan will focus on Shelbourne St. and adjoining areas (about 500 m on each side), from Hillside Mall to Feltham Village. This discussion paper prepared by Peter Spurr of the MTCA outlines some preliminary discussions with Saanich planning and identifies some topics for consideration.

This backgrounder prepared by the MTCA provides a consolidation of information available through various official sources about population, land use, and traffic in the Shelbourne Corridor.

Saanich has recently changed its bylaws to permit secondary suites in Saanich, south of McKenzie Ave., subject to various conditions.

The District of Saanich has recently completed a review and modifications to its Offical Community Plan. The OCP identifies a "major centre" (University Centre, Shelbourne@McKenzie) and a "neighbourhood centre" (Cedar Hill Centre, Shelbourne@Cedar Hill Cross) within the MTCA boundaries.
