Saanich is preparing to develop a detailed "action plan" to address planning in the Shelbourne corridor area. The plan will focus on Shelbourne St. and adjoining areas (about 500 m on each side), from Hillside Mall to Feltham Village. Saanich is considering changes to its bylaws to permit secondary suites in Saanich, south of McKenzie Ave. The District is requesting input from residents via telephone and online surverys and open houses. The District of Saanich has recently completed a review and modifications to its Offical Community Plan. Although the Shelbourne Local Area Plan has not yet been addressed, the OCP identifies a "major centre" (University Centre, Shelbourne@McKenzie) and a "neighbourhood centre" (Cedar Hill Centre, Shelbourne@Cedar Hill Cross) within the MTCA boundaries.
